SERVE Goes Back to School

In October 2009 SERVE launched its Solidarity Gifts range. Solidarity Gifts allow the public to show their solidarity with communities in the developing world by purchasing very practical gifts, that make a lasting impact. One of the gifts, costing just €10/£9, purchases a School Uniform and Bag for children in Muvamba in rural Mozambique. Over the summer, the SERVE volunteers met with the communities that have benefitted from the purchase of these gifts for them by the Irish public. Supporting the children of this community to benefit from education is vital in offering a life to them other than poverty.

As the Back-to-school rush gets underway here in Ireland, spare a thought for those that could benefit from a school uniform and bag, at a cost of just €10/£9. A purchase of a school uniform and bag, or any of the Solidarity Gifts, creates a double-dividend - the gifts benefit the individual, family or community while the gift is also purchased locally, benefitting the local economy.
