Astonishingly, the Millennium Development Goals has not set specific targets to alleviate the plight of people with disability. 75% of disabled people in India are located in rural areas. The provision of a modified wheelchair, designed for rural areas, can dramatically improve the mobility, confidence and independence of people with disability.
