Choose a Solidarity Gift this year, and support the communities we work in partnership with through practical and meaningful gifts. Our Sustainability Gift ensures that SERVE’s work is effective, inclusive and has a long-lasting impact on vulnerable communities in southern Africa, India and South East Asia.

A very positive feature of SERVE Solidarity Gifts is that all the gifts are purchased in the local countries which provides even more of an impact by assisting individuals, families, local communities and economies.

These Solidarity Gifts are truly ethical and have the potential to have a long lasting impact.

Solidarity Gift of Seeds of Growth (€5 / £4)

Seeds are a sacred metaphor for life and renewal. The gift of seeds will bring the metaphor to life by exhibiting solidarity in action with Luyando Farm in Mazabuka, Zambia. These seeds will provide a new food source, boosting the sustainability of the project and improving the health and nutrition of the farmer, his family, and the broader Assumption Parish Community.

This gift is a powerful show of solidarity, directly promoting Sustainable Development Goal 15 – Life on Land.

Solidarity Gift of Carbon Offsetting (€15 / £13)

Communities in our partner countries are the most vulnerable to the devastating effects of climate change. Individuals who have done the least to contribute to environmental destruction are most at risk of losing their homes, livelihoods, and way of life. SERVE acknowledges that our activities have negative effects on the environment, especially the long-haul flights that our volunteers take when travelling to their placements. This gift will pay for a fruit tree to be planted in India by our partner, the Association of People with Disability. This provides a reliable food source for vulnerable people, while also helping the planet.
This is a small contribution towards helping to offset the negative impact of our activities and is an important step in promoting Sustainable Development Goal 13 – Climate Action.

Solidarity Gift of Nutritious Meals for a Month (€30 / £25)

Nutritional deficiencies early in life can affect the cognitive development of children. Access to nutrition contributes to early development, concentration, and energy levels. The Presentations Sisters, SERVE’s partner in the Philippines, facilitate a Nutrition Programme in the Nano Nagle Early Learning Centre for the Badjao Tribe in Cebu. With the purchase of this Gift, you can support this programme and meet the nutritional needs of the Montessori students attending Nano Nagle with a guaranteed nutritious meal every day for one month.  The meal consists of rice, chicken, vegetables, fruit and milk.
This gift will contribute towards Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger.

Solidarity Gift of Quality Education (€60 /£50  half scholarship or €120 / £100 full scholarship)

SERVE and Young Africa have been working closely together since 2008, delivering innovative projects that are focused on technical, vocational, and educational training (TVET), life skills, and practical youth work. Quality education is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development, and poverty is only beaten when people have the skills to survive, to work and to take initiative.  Purchasing a gift of Quality Education will empower young people in Mozambique or Zimbabwe to live independently through practical and life skills training.

The purchase of this gift will contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education

Solidarity Gift of a Specialised Wheelchair (€100 / £90)

People living with disabilities in the global south are among the poorest on our planet. With the Sustainable Development Goals having a specific focus on disability in Goals 4, 8, 10, 11 and 17, we are continuing to respond to this issue through the provision of care and support to our partners. 75% of people living with disability in India are living in rural areas. The provision of a specialised wheelchair, designed for rural areas, can dramatically improve the mobility, confidence and independence of people with disability. Your gift of a wheelchair will transform the life of a person living with disability in rural India.

This gift supports Sustainable Development Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities.
